We Are Going To Goodwood Revival

This was us the last time we attended Goodwood in 2019. Usually by the time Goodwood Revival comes around in September, Mark and I are pretty shattered from the busy period that comes along with the build up to it. Helping the packing team fulfil orders, phones ringing off the hook along with multiple emails and visiting customers seeking advice for last minute invites.

We are definitely not complaining here but the last thing we feel up to is travelling the length of the country to be put in the midst of more vintage clothing. What with Covid and one thing or another, we haven't been for a couple of years so we think the timing is now right to don our finest Revival vintage and make the trip. Our team are also keen to get some new images from the event.

We will play spot Revival and hopefully get to meet some of our customers in person. No mannequin can model our clothing in the same way as our gorgeous customers. So if we spot you we may well be saying hello and asking for selfies!

At our West Yorkshire base, the team are busy adding outfit ideas to our website and social media to help reduce the strain of choosing suitable outfits for this highly popular event. These are shared in the form of flatlays with links to each product and include model images. The feedback we received last year indicated that they are helpful inspiration for browsers.

1. There's a lot of walking so I will want an outfit that won't look out of place with a comfortable low to mid heeled shoe.
2. It's a good trek to the car park so I need an outfit that can accommodate a large handbag or small case for all my event essentials.
3. UK weather is unpredictable at the best of times. In September we can enjoy an end of season hot spell or bracing winds and rain. I hate being cold so I will definitely be choosing something with layers.
4. I want to showcase Revival products but with something that is new or coming soon.

6 Weeks To Go
As things are stepping up a gear at work Mark and I have finally settled on our outfits. Mark has decided to wear an original 1950s blue suit that we bought on a trip to America. It is comfortable and light. He will wear it with a coordinating open neck leisure shirt. Here are his two options.

I have opted for either an original forties CC41 skirt suit or our latest sample suit pattern drafted from it. They are both in tonal Autumnal shades - the original a brown orange check wool cloth, our replica a rich burgundy plaid. They both fit well and create a shapely silhouette with their intricate seams and darting. I always feel that it's an honour to wear an original 1940s CC41 garment especially when in pristine condition but at the same time worry I will damage it. Here are the two suits:

4 Weeks To Go
The month before Goodwood Revival our own trip won't be given another thought as it's all hands on deck for the final push. Don't panic, we can still help you out! If you need to pick up a few last-minute accessories or even complete outfits, our standard UK shipping cut-off will be is Friday 1st September. However, our other shipping options will be available right up until Wednesday 6th.

Remember our showroom in Huddersfield is now open on Saturdays 10am-4pm if you need one-to-one guidance from our friendly staff.
