1940s Rembrandt Vintage Striped Black Skirt Suit
A sleek original forties suit set from well-recognised label Rembrandt. This set consists of a skirt and a matching jacket, in classic black with deep blue stripes.
The skirt is a classic straight cut with a wrapover design on the front. It's fastened with a metal side zip.
The jacket's most striking feature is its wide and dramatic low collar. Despite the masculine touch of the slightly padded shoulders, the jacket's collar and the cute two-button fastening make it unmistakably feminine. As with a wealth of forties pieces, the suit's silhouette also nips in at the waist to create that iconic hourglass silhouette. This is achieved with gorgeous pleating on both the front and back.

The hook and eye closures on the skirt waistband have been moved so they're no longer in line with the zip. It seems that the previous owner wore the skirt with the zip partially open, as it's covered by the jacket. Moving them back would be very simple if so desired.
