1940s Vintage Matinee Dress in Pistachio Green
The Matinee dress is an elegant and authentic forties look dress, acurately copied from an original garment from the era. The pale sage green colour of the Pistachio shade and the dress's effortless silhouette means it can be worn to a casual gathering or a formal ball with a simple change of accessories. Made of light crepe just like the original. A beautifully-constructed piece that turns heads whenever and wherever it is worn.
The dress has a low neck with gathers to the bust, the centre of which is pulled closed across the chest with a hook-and-eye closure. There is also an inverted tuck on the short sleeve hem. A narrow shawl collar, and gathering at the sleeve heads complete the top.
The waist panel is a sloping reverse V-shape, while the panelling in the skirt creates movement and flow. The construction of the Matinee is one that flatters the figure in the way only vintage clothing can.

Like all our Socialite range, only small numbers are produced to keep them exclusive. The Matinee dress is part of our 2023 spring-summer collection, produced to celebrate our 20th anniversary as a business selling mid century fashion. Also comes in “Pan Stik”, a peachy orange shade.
45% faux silk, 55% rayon. Wash at 30 degrees. Iron with warm heat. Do not tumble dry. Dry away from direct sun rays.
Heather (green colourway, crochet shawl) is 5ft 6 and wears a UK 10. Alice (orange colourway) is 5ft 3 and wears a UK 10. Rebecca (green colourway, cream hat) is 5ft 5 and wears a UK 12.
