Revival 1940s Grey and Black Notch Fishtail Trousers
For an authentic look, we copied an original pair of trousers (dated 1942) to create these highwaisted notch back trousers.
The notch back is a slightly less defined fishtail back. However, when worn with button on braces the notch becomes more pronounced.
As was the fashion during the 1940s the Trousers have pleated front and a 21" trouser bottom circumference with 1.5" turn-up.
The fabric is a mid-weight soft touch wool so are comfortable to wear and ideal to dance in.
Key Features include:-
- high/natural waist
- button-up fly
- buttons attached for braces if required
- turn up
- 2 side pockets
- single back flap pocket
- 100% Wool
SIZING NOTE Please read before ordering:
Inside leg measurements are approx 31" on all pairs however please take into account the trouser rise which is lower and adds at least another inch to the length.
They are high waisted and so the cut of them may mean a tighter fit. We recommend ordering the next size up OR for better accuracy measure yourself just below the belly button.
Example - I am 6ft and wear trousers/jeans of 32" inside leg and 34 to 36" waist. The size worn by me in the picture is 38" waist.
Will it fit? We recommend comparing our measurements to something that fits you well. Check the size guide here

Q: What is the rise measurement? How high waisted are we taking. Thank you!?
A: They are taken from a 1940s trouser pattern so are high-waisted accurate to the period. They have a 13" rise. Thank you.
Q: Do you carry out alterations as I only have a 29.5 inside leg measurement and the trousers will be too long?
A: Hi, The best thing for you to do is purchase them to ensure the waist size is correct and you are happy with the trousers in general. At that point go to a local tailor to have them altered exactly to your size. The cost of this will be between £8 to £15.
Q: what are the washing/cleaning instructions for these? dry clean only?
A: They can be washed on a wool or hand wash ie 30 degree cycle of a washing machine. We regularly wash them this way and they have been fine. Thank you
