1940s Vintage Gadabout Linen Waistcoat
Polished and yet relaxed cream linen four-pocket waistcoat with a timeless vintage look. (2024 Version*)
In response to the popular demand for our forties tropical style suit, the 'Gadabout', we've created a matching waistcoat. The suit has been a popular choice for vintage nostalgia events and festivals amongst our customers - why not enhance the look further with a coordinating waistcoat?
As always with our Socialite range, we have replicated an original vintage item - in this case, a 1940s waistcoat.
Key authentic features include:
- Six-button fastening, with coordinating buttons.
- Satin back in a complementary colour.
- Back half-belt with adjustable buckle.
- Two top welt pockets and two bottom flap pockets.
- Pleats down the chest.
Fabric content is all-natural: 80% linen and 20% cotton.
Pairing this handsome waistcoat with our Gadabout fishtail trousers makes for a fabulous and authentic look which is a great choice for hotter weather. Add the coordinating Gadabout jacket for a complete three-piece suit look in a tropical cream linen that has all the charm of Clark Gable's iconic off-screen wardrobe.

*Please note: our 2024 run of the Gadabout items (including the new matching waistcoat) is very slightly different in shade to our previous 2023 run - worth bearing in mind if you already own a piece or pieces from the Gadabout line. The colour is still a beautiful cream linen and the difference is difficult to spot.
