Shetland Fashion

Yes, you read right; the Shetlands are paving the way for the fashion foreword amongst us. Bang on trend this winter are Fair Isle jumpers. Apparently the designs were influenced by the crew of a wrecked Spanish Armada ship in 1588. (Well I’ve learnt something new today!) The designs are distinctive with a series of knitted shapes including island icons such as anchors, rams’ horns, ferns and flowers. The colours came from combining the variations in sheep’s wool; white, grey, black, brown, red and ochre.

Over-sized jumpers worn as dresses really work the whole look of both knitted dresses and Fair Isle prints for girls this season. Team with a leather waist belt and over the knee boots to totally rock this winter trend. Boys; wear with the wardrobe staple of jeans for a casual look, add a leather bomber jacket and chino’s to stand out from the crowd as a fashion leader.
If the Fair Isle prints are a little too much for you, have a look at the Aran knit wear we have in stock. These garments are simple in design; the neutral palette makes them ideal to team with something a little bolder. But most importantly, they will keep you toasty this winter!

Vicky.
