Twinwood Vintage Fashion & Music Festival

Twinwood Vintage Festival is Coming Up and Revival Want to Go!

We have not been lucky enough to visit the Twinwood vintage music and fashion festival but as it is considered such a key event within our sector I felt it was worthy of a little research and promotion.  I would love to share my findings with you plus it would be great to hear about your own experience of Twinwood especially if you have some pictures to share.

Twinwood is set within natural woodland at RAF Twinwood Farm Airfield Bedfordshire.  The Twinwood website is comprehensive and has travel guidelines from all directions.

It takes place each year over the August bank holiday.

Tickets can be bought online or over the telephone with several options available depending on whether you are a day visitor, wish to include camping etc.  I think some types sell out rather quickly so you may have missed out this year if you haven’t already booked.

Look at this site map it's like a mini Glastonbury.

ENTERTAINMENT

Looking at the line up of performers I can see the emphasis is definitely on the music and entertainment.   I can see at least 50 different artists lined up for this year.  Twinwood celebrates several decades so the music is just as varied.  From the roaring 1920s, the Jazz Age of the 1930s, the Big Band sound of the 1940s, into the rock n roll music of the 50s, before heading into the Swinging 60s and beyond. Everyone seems to dress up which for me sounds like people-watching heaven.

As well as music, the festival offers a huge amount of dancing (including lessons,) as well as museums, classic cars, shopping and socialising

MR & MISS VINTAGE UK COMPETITION

In 2011 Mr and Mrs Vintage UK competition was introduced to the proceedings.  Judged by a panel of industry experts it's a great way to celebrate vintage styles and all the creativity lovers of vintage clothing bring to it.

I enjoyed looking at the previous winners on the Twinwood website.  They all look fabulous I’m sure one or two of our own vintage pieces will have made it to the competition before now.  We have enjoyed feedback from entrants of similar competitions in the past, best thrill ever!

Above is Nikki Redcliffe as Miss Vintage UK 2018, and Robert Oestmann as Mr Vintage UK 2018.

SEE YOU THERE SOMETIME

If you want to know more about any aspect of Twinwood visit the official website or order a free brochure.

For me finding out a little more about this popular event has made me all the more determined to get there myself one year.  It would be a long trip from our Revival vintage base in Huddersfield West Yorkshire so I need to get myself kitted out with some glamping gear first!
